The correct payoff for odds bets varies from point number to point number, depending on the odds of a 7 being rolled before a particular point is repeated. The payoff formula is the same whether you take single odds, double odds, or more. Correct odds payoffs are as follows: Points 4 and 10 pay 2-to-1 Points 5 and 9 pay 3-to-2 Points 6 and 8 pay 6-to-5 As an example, suppose you bet $1.00 on the pass line and establish a point of 4 in a casino that offers double odds. You now have the option of taking the adds for an additional $2.00. (You can wager a lesser amount or choose not to take any odds at all) Don't Pass Line Bet - The reverse of the Pass Line bet. You are betting that the first role of the dice will not add up to 7 or 11. A 2 or 3 wins. A 12 causes a "Push" or "Standoff" where no one wins. If a "Point" is established, you are betting that the shooter will not "Make" or role his or her "Point" again before rolling a 7. Come Bets - This bet is made after the "Point" has been established and is exactly like the "Pass Line" bet. You win if the "Shooter" roles a "Natural" 7 or 11 and lose on 2, 3, or 11, called "Craps." You place your wager in the area marked "Come" on the craps table. Your wager remains here unless a "Point" number is rolled. The dealer then moves your wager to the number that was rolled on the table. This same number must be rolled again before a 7 comes for you to win. Some gamblers believe that you can recover your losses by doubling your bet every time you lose. This is known as the Martingale system. The idea is that when you win, the win will be big enough to cover your previous losses. There are two problems with this system: You may run out of money before you win. You can only double your bet so many times because of table limits, and so occasionally you will hit the table limit before winning – and this will be very expensive.
Craps is very easy to play. The current player rolls a seven and the game starts. After the current player rolls a seven a new player is given the dice. Before rolling the dice the new player has to make a bet. The player makes either a pass line bet or a don't pass bet. Only after placing a bet the player rolls the dice, which is called the "comeout roll". If the total rolled is 7 or 11 it is called a ‘pass’. Pass line bets win if a pass is made. It is called ‘craps’ if the total rolled is 2,3,12. Don’t pass line bets win in the case of craps. Don't pass line bets do not win if the "craps" number is a 12 in Las Vegas or a 2 in Reno and Tahoe. If the total is any other number this number is called a place number or a point number. In the case of a ‘point’ the shooter continues to roll until that "point" is rolled again, which is called "making the point". With "making the point" "pass line" bets win and "don't pass" bets lose. If the total you roll is 7, you are said to roll out. If a 7 is rolled before the second point number "pass line" bets lose and "don't pass" bets win. If a player sevens out, his turn is over and the whole process begins again with a new player. In the case of a “point” number players can choose one of the bets. You can make bets on each subsequent roll of the dice until a 7 is rolled. The Place Bet allows you to bet directly on a point-number without having to make a Pass Line or Come bet. Place bets can be made by simply clicking on the Place area on the craps table. The place bet is turned off by default during a comeout roll. To force the bet on, hold down the shift key and click directly on the bet. The Buy Bet allows you to bet directly on a point-number without making a Pass Line or Come bet. Buy bets pay correct odds but you 5% will be taken out by the house. A buy bet wins if the number rolls before a 7. To make a Buy Bet you have to click on one of the numbers of the table. A Come Bet is made when the shooter is going to repeat the point number. Click on the Come area and a come bet will be made. If the shooter rolls a 7 or a 11 you win. If the shooter has craps you lose. If there is a point number the bet is moved from the come area to the point-box indicating the point-number that the shooter must roll for that bet to win. If the point-number is rolled before a 7, you win. If you win in Come Bet the payout is 1:1. Odds bet on the Come bet. If you make an odds bet on the come bet you bet that the shooter will repeat the point-number before rolling 7. You get paid 2:1 if you win with the point 4 or 10. If the point number is 5 or 9 the payoff is 3:2. If the point number is 6 or 8 the payout is 6:5. Big 6 and Big 8 bets are like regular place bets. In the case of a win with Big 6 or 8 you get paid 1:1. Big 6 and Big 8 bets are turned off by default during a come out roll.
