The game of craps is the most popular dice game in the United States at the moment there are a few different theories about its origin. Dice games can be traced back to the roman times with shaved pigs knuckles being used as the dice. Craps however was based on the game hazard, which was popular in the 17th and 18th century in England. The name craps is believed to have derived from the English crabs which was the name for the throw of aces or ace-deuce. The game moved over to the United States when the French moved to New Orleans and the French pronounced the game craps and in there version of the game the player throws against the house and not another player like the English version of the game. The game was very popular on the Mississippi river boats and it was a simplified version of modern day craps that was spread about the United States. There are two modern day versions of craps played today. Street craps has more in common with the riverboat game than Bank craps and it is so named as it can be played on the street. A shooter establishes a point, then tries to make that point. Bettors either bet with the shooter or against the shooter. Someone must cover the bet for the shooter in order for the game to progress. Bank craps is the form played in the casinos and has a more complicated form of betting with the house covering the bets.

This system is a little more sophisticated, but the results can be as devastating as our old friend Martingale. It is a series of numbers, each of which is the sum of the last two numbers in the system, like this: 1-1-2-3-5-8-13-21-34-55-89-144. Advice about betting it varies, but one of the more common is to bet the series as you lose. If you win a bet, fall back one in the series If you win that one, start over, if you lose, continue on in the series.

These wagers are decided on the next roll of the dice, the next roll decides if you win or lose. Field Bets are popular because seven outcomes will win (2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12) can win, while only four (5, 6, 7 or 8) can lose. Any Seven Bets are made when you bet the next roll will be a 7. Any Craps Bets are made when you bet the next roll will be a 2, 3 or 12. Two Bets are for the next roll to be a 2. Twelve Bets are for the next roll to be a 12. Three Bets are for the next roll to be a 3. Eleven Bets are for the next roll to be an 11. Horn Bet is made when you are betting that a 2, 3, 11 or 12 will show on the next roll. All of these bets are made through the stickman, except for the Field bet which you can place for yourself

The object of the game is to throw a 7 or 11, which are winning throws and avoid throwing 2,3 or 12, which are losing throws. The shooter must establish a point number; point numbers are the numbers 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 when one of these numbers is thrown then a point has been established and the shooter plays against this number and if they get point before hitting a seven then they win. Any player can bet on the throw of the dice and can either bet on the shooter or on the house. Stickman: is the casino employee who calls out the dice rolls and returns the dice to the shooter. The stickman is responsible for the placing and paying of bets.
